Synopsis:

Ottway (Liam Neeson) is a skilled huntsman who works to protect oil workers in Alaska. He and several others survived a plane crash in the cold wilderness. Now, they are faced with the challenge to survive against the harsh cold weather and from those blood thirsty wolves lurking around the area. Things are getting worse for the survivors as they set on foot and try to find rescue from the closest civilization.

Reaction:

The cast is great. They were able to portray their roles well. Liam Neeson definitely outshines the others. His character is that of a man with strength but deep inside he is a troubled man who faces his own demons. The other survivors have their own stories to tell as well about their families and dark pasts. In this film, the writers attempt to tell the moviegoers that even the strongest of men would show their vulnerable side when face with impending disaster. The struggles one has to undergo in order to survive is just too much to contain. It also shows how hard it is to survive when you are between life and death. It is only then when you are near death that you get to realize the true value of your family, friends and even appreciate the beauty of nature. The film's message is definitely excellent.

Now, on its negative side, I am not a film expert but then there are just so many scenes from the film that are not well thought off. There are several discrepancies. Furthermore, the film is a bit slow pace not the one might expect when you got the chance to watch its full movie trailer. For awhile there, the trailer gives you an idea that this is an action packed film between man and the beast. However, this is not even close when you watch the whole film. I can say that this is a decent film with a good message. Others may find it boring and even laughable for there are scenes that are not just possible to happen in real life. Anyway, this is just a fictional film. This is not one of those most remarkable films of Liam Neeson but it has its followers. Overall, I would give this film a rating of  5 out of 10.
