Reaction:

The Woman in Black is a film adaptation of the novel written by Susan Hill with the same title. This movie gets several decent reviews from film critics. It turns out a surprised success in terms of gross sales for Daniel Radcliffe who everyone knows starred in those greatly successful Harry Potter films. I can never help but compare his acting skill in this film to those previous films he did in the past. As a movie viewer, I can say that Radcliffe as a father is able to portray his role decently. There may be some awkward scenes between him and his son but still he was able to pull it off. Actually, the most important part of the film is the Eel Marsh House. This is where the terror begins concocted by the Black Woman.

In this modern times in which horror films showcase morbid killing, more blood and other sick stuffs, The Woman in Black brings back the classic horror film style with a typical ghost bringing havoc to the entire village plus some spine chilling sound effects. To put it simply, the typical elements of a simple classic horror film are there. However, while watching the entire film, it keeps reminding me of another film entitled "Insidious". Different story but with almost the same elements used. In addition, the film itself is simply predictable.

In conclusion, I can say that this film has its terrifying moments and surprises but it is not really a remarkable horror film. It offers good entertainment for more than an hour and that is all there is to it. I would rate this film as 5/10.
